After 2 years of waiting, Game of Thrones Season 8 is finally here. Winter has come and the fate of many characters is uncertain. Being the show’s swan song, let’s revisit all past seven seasons with a focus on how the male characters have developed in terms of hairstyles.
There are many iconic men hairstyles in Game Of Thrones. Some characters have changed their hairstyle, some remained the same and because we’re speaking of GoT, some didn’t get a chance to do that.
Without further ado, we present Game of Thrones Hairstyles: Men of Westeros & Beyond
01. Jon Snow Game of Thrones Hairstyles
Kit Harington as Jon Snow – Season 1 – Season 8
When we first meet Jon Snow he has a medium-length curly hair and a fake beard.
Years have passed, resurrections occurred and now Jon Snow has a full beard and a man bun.
02. Varys Clean Shave Hairstyle
Conleth Hill as Varys – Season 1 – Season 8
Varys has stayed the same throughout all Game of Thrones seasons with his iconic shaved head hairstyle. Some little bird advised him to.
03. Jamie Lannister Hairstyle
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jamie Lannister – Season 1 – Season 8
We’ve hated him, we’ve loved him, we were unsure, and so on. Jamie Lannister is a key player in the show and a fan favorite. When we first meet him in season one he has a medium-length hair with curtains. After 8 years, 3 children, and a hand lost, we find him with shorter hair and fringe, but we can also notice the grey hairs from his beard.
04. Robb Stark Game of Thrones Hairstyles
Richard Madden as Robb Stark – Season 1 – Season 3
Robb Stark didn’t have time to make dramatic makeovers due to him being suddenly named Warden of the North, but we couldn’t have mentioned those amazing flowing curls.
05. Robert Baratheon Game of Thrones Hairstyles
Mark Addy as Robert Baratheon – Season 1
Robert Baratheon had long hair and a full beard – the perfect look for a king.
The King is dead, long live the king!
06. Joffrey Baratheon Hairstyles
Jack Gleeson as Joffrey Baratheon – Season 1 – Season 4
There isn’t a character in recent history more obnoxious than Joffrey. In terms of hairstyles, he didn’t experiment much. He kept his blonde boyish haircut with bangs throughout 4 seasons.
07. Ned Stark Hairstyle
Sean Bean as Eddard “Ned” Stark – Season 1
The most honorable man across all seven kingdoms didn’t have enough time to get his
head hair cut. We remember him with long hair, something similar to Robert Baratheon, and a freshly trimmed beard.
Even though he was only part of Season One, he remains one of the most important characters in the show.
08. Gendry Game of Thrones Hairstyles
Joe Dempsie as Gendry – Season 1 – Season 8
In terms of Game of Thrones hairstyles, Gendry went from short hair to a buzz cut. Not the best choice for winter.
09. Khal Drogo Hairstyle
Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo – Season 1
Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo was something to die for. His iconic long hair and beard riding in the wind were amazing. Too bad we didn’t get a chance to see more of this character.
10. Theon Greyjoy Hairstyle
Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy – Season 1 – Season 8
Theon Greyjoy had a complicated run in Game of Thrones. You’ve loved him, hated him, felt sorry for him, loved him again. In terms of hairstyles, he went from wavy short hair to a messy hairstyle.
11. Tyrion Lannister Hairstyles
Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister – Season 1 – Season 8
One of the most drastic makeovers in terms of Game of Thrones hairstyles. Tyrion went from a short layered hairstyle to curly bangs and a goatee. He definitely found the right hair products in his travels.
12. Hodor Hairstyles
Kristian Nairn as Hodor – Season 1 – Season 6
Hold … the short wavy hairstyle with beard that Hodor kept throughout the seasons.
13. Samwell Tarly Hairstyles
John Bradley as Samwell Tarly – Season 1 – Season 8
Sam went from the boy who got bullied to the first man that killed a white walker. His look changed as well, from a bed head to a manly slick back hairstyle.
14. Lancel Lannister Hairstyles
Eugene Simon as Lancel Lannister – Season 1 – Season 6
Lancel went from a Red Riding Hood look to a more appropriate one – crew cut – even though his crew wasn’t exactly good for King’s Landing.
15. Bran Stark Hairstyles
Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark – Season 1 – Season 8
Before jump scaring everyone in Season 8 by appearing from nowhere, Bran had a boyish shoulder-length haircut. Time passed, hair got shorter, and bangs are still trending in Westeros.
16. The Hound Hairstyle
Rory McCann as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane – Season 1 – Season 8
No hairstyle changes for this character in 8 whole seasons. To be honest, his long hairstyle serves a purpose.
17. Tormund Hairstyle
Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane – Season 3 – Season 8
Everybody loves Tormund with his slicked-back ginger hair and full red beard. He has a viking vibe.
18. Dario Naharis Hairstyles
Ed Skrein – Season 3 & Michiel Huisman – Season 4 – Hopefully Season 8 – as Dario Naharis
They’ve done it this time, they’ve completely changed the whole look of this character. From long blonde hair to medium-length wavy brown hair.
19. Podrick Hairstyles
Daniel Portman as Podrick Payne – Season 2 – Season 8
The man known for certain enlarged talents kept his haircut, but he let it grow longer. He might be in between cuts. Let’s hope he survives this season.
20. Bronn Hairstyles
Jerome Flynn as Bronn – Season 1 – Season 8
Bronn went for a short trim, texture, volume, and a new hair color.
Bronn is the best GoT character and deserves his castle!Author
21. Ramsay Bolton Game of Thrones Hairstyles
Iwan Rheon as Ramsay Bolton – Season 3 – Season 6
Ramsay didn’t have a dramatic makeover. He left his thick hair grow, for a fuller look, had a clean shave for the battle of bastards, and thank God we don’t have to see him ever!
22. Davos Seaworth Hairstyles
Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth – Season 2 – Season 8
With a receding hairline, he found the look that suits him best.
23. Jorah Mormont Hairstyles
Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont – Season 1 – Season 8
Loyal, friend, friend-zoned, Jorah Mormont is one of the most loved characters in the show. He went from messy unkempt hair to a lovely hard part comb over.
24. Oberyn Martell Game Of Thrones Hairstyles
Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell – Season 4
Oberyn stole the show from his first appearance with his messy bangs and short facial hair.
25. Littlefinger Game of Thrones Hairstyles
Aidan Gillen as Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish – Season 1 – Season 7
The mastermind. The schemes. The Power Moves. We all thought, at least for a moment, that he would end up on the Iron Throne. That didn’t happen, thankfully. Speaking of things that didn’t happen, his hairstyle stayed basically the same throughout the show, many got a little darker in the last seasons. One iconic thing about his hairstyle is the grey sides.
26. Thoros of Myr Game of Thrones Hairstyles
Paul Kaye as Thoros of Myr – Season 3 – Season 7
Kind of a risky move to have a top knot with that receding hairline.
27. White Walker Game of Thrones Hairstyles
As we can expect – long white hair + receding hairline.
To summarize Game of Thrones hairstyles – they love bangs! We’ve reviewed 27 male characters from the show. Let us know which character we’ve missed and we’ll update the article.
